We never expected to be running past cacti one minute and past lush forests the next, crossing babbling brooks, all on a sandy path.   Santa Barbara sits along the Pacific coast, nestled into soft rolling hills and mountain peaks above.  It’s an ecosystem anomaly to us.  Heading up the single lane, narrow and twisty-turny roads through thick green fauna, you think you’re somewhere in South America.
